Fishing Guide

About

An avid angler for life, Kevin Patrick Hughes has been a dedicated kayak fisherman for the better part of a decade. Originally cutting his teeth on the rivers and lakes of central Ohio, this Midwest native took every opportunity he could to travel and fish in the saltier areas of the country. He developed a passion for the tremendous fishery in south Florida, particularly the incredible and diverse inshore scene. When the opportunity arose to relocate full time to the crystal clear waters of Miami, he jumped at it.

In the years since, he’s become dedicated to the craft of figuring out everything there is to know about fishing here from a kayak. While his specialty is inshore sight fishing the flats and mangroves, he’s embraced all the forms of fishing south Florida offers. From freshwater peacock bass in the canals, to stalking the flats of Biscayne bay for tarpon and bonefish, all the way to fighting tuna and sailfish offshore. He’s spent countless hours on the water learning them all.

A regular on Field and Stream magazine’s digital series “Hook Shots,” he’s co-hosted or been featured on episodes targeting snakeheads in south Florida canals and snook in the Everglades. His content can regularly be seen on the Field and Stream website, and filming his adventures is just another element of an exciting day on the water.

His passion for fishing extends to sharing his experiences with others. While putting people on the fish of a lifetime is always a great reward, the ultimate goal is to share the truly unique experience of kayak fishing in one of the most diverse and beautiful environments on the planet: South Florida. It just so happens that sharing that experience and catching some truly awesome fish often go hand in hand!
